AFFIRMING OUR FAITH ( 6 - 10)
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH(6)
From Isaiah 44
We believe in one God
who made all things;
he alone stretched out the heavens
and spread out the earth:
he formed us in the womb.
He is our king and our redeemer -
the Lord almighty.
We belong to the Lord -
we are his people
and are called by his name;
he pours out his Spirit upon us
as water on a thirsty land.
We believe in one God, the almighty,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (7)
From Isaiah 44 (variant)
We believe in one God and Father
who made all things,
who stretched out the heavens
and spread out the earth.
We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
our king and our redeemer;
we are his people and are called by his name;
We believe in one Holy Spirit,
the Lord almighty,
poured out upon us
as water upon a thirsty land.
We believe in one God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (8)
From Isaiah 44 (variant)
We believe in one God who made all things:
Did he stretch out the heavens, spread out the earth, and form us in the womb?
He did!
Is he the Lord almighty, our king and redeemer?
He is!
Are we his own people, called by his name?
We are!
Does he pour his Spirit on us as on a dry and thirsty land?
He does!
We believe in one God, the Almighty,
Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (9)
From Isaiah 53
We believe in Jesus Christ,
the suffering Servant,
the Son of God;
he took upon himself our weaknesses
and carried our sorrows;
he was wounded for our sins
and beaten for our wickedness;
he was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
as a sheep before the shearers
he did not open his mouth;
he was put to death for our sins -
the sacrifice by which we are forgiven;
he bore the sin of many
and prayed for our forgiveness. Amen.
AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (10)
From John 1
Let us declare our faith in Christ the Son of God:
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
Through him all things were made;
without him nothing was made
that has been made.
In him was life,
and that life was the light of the world.
The Word became flesh
and lived for a while among us;
we have seen his glory,
the glory of the only Son of the Father,
full of grace and truth. Amen.
