David Wilson

Biography

Educated at Colfe's Grammar School, Lewisham and the Manchester University. After an early interest in music he began composition around the age of 13 and has continued to write - mostly hymn tunes - almost ever since. Although having no formal musical education, he became involved in the production of 'Youth Praise (1)' in 1964, edited the music for 'Youth Praise (2)' in 1969, served on the editorial team of 'Psalm Praise' in 1973 and became Music Editor of 'Hymns for Todays Church' in 1982.

Ordained in 1965 he has had only four appointments throughout his ministry - as a curate first of Saint Barnabas, Clapham Common and then in 1969 moved to Saint Pauls, Onslow Square. In 1973 he became vicar of Holy Apostles, Leicester and moved to Saint Marys Osterley in 1984.

Married to Janice in 1969 they have two children - Emily (1971) and Paul (1973).
