Gayle studied piano from the age of six and then the flute and oboe from age of twelve. She studied voice for three years in her twenties and has a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Western Australia in 2002. She taught music for 18 months then she moved to London to do a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, Music & Worship where she graduated with Honours in 2007. She has worked as a Worship and Creative Arts Co-ordinator in a London church for over three years. She continues to teach vocals to church musicians upon request at training days and conferences etc. She currently works for Tear Fund.
