1 All heaven rings with joyful songs
as angels tell the story
of one who comes to right our wrongs
and take us up to glory.
2 The silent earth is filled with awe
and mortal men stand trembling;
for God is found among the poor,
our very selves resembling.
3 The Lord is born this holy day
of Mary, virgin mother;
God's child of grace, love's perfect way,
our saviour and our brother.
4 Come, Christians, greet the living Word,
ascribing truth and merit;
let heaven and earth with one accord
