1 Angels are bringing
news in the morning;
splendour from heaven
lights up the sky.
Can we envisage
Bethlehem's baby
grown up to manhood,
led out to die?

2 Angels are telling:
Now he is risen!
See where they laid him
empty it stands.
Can we believe it
till we have seen him,
till he has shown us
scars on his hands?

3 Angels are calling:
Christ is returning!
Day of our judgement
dawning at last.
Can we imagine
how we shall face him,
fearing the future,
fleeing the past?

4 Lord of the angels,
baby no longer,
Star of our morning,
shine on our way.
Crucified Saviour,
risen Redeemer,
King of all glory,
save us today!
