1 As the deer longs for water
My soul longs for You, Lord,
My soul is thirsty for the living God
I long to see His face.
2 Day and night I am weeping
My soul is poured out, Lord,
Each day I hear it said, 'Where is your God?'
I long to see Your face.
3 In the past I was leading
The praise in Your house, Lord,
With shouts of thankful joy amidst the crowd
Yet now I am depressed.
4 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
And why are you groaning?
Renew your hope in God, and praise Him still
He is your saving help.
5 Through the day He shows mercy,
And so, in the evening,
I sing to Him with praise upon my lips
In my life He is God.
6 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
And why are you groaning?
Renew your hope in God and praise Him still
He is your saving help.
