1 Christ the Light who shines unfading
in the sad, sin-darkened mind
guiding those who grope in error
opening eyes that sin made blind;
shows himself the Lord of Glory
shining for a lost mankind.
2 Christ the Bread who came from heaven
hungry souls to satisfy:
just as loaves must first be broken
our Life-giver had to die;
made Himself a generous Offering,
gave Himself for our supply.
3 Christ the Life who rose in splendour
from the cold and dismal cave,
on the resurrection morning
conquered death and burst his grave;
showed himself the mighty Champion,
still alive and strong to save.
4 Christ the King, to earth returning,
surely will not long delay;
Christ the Son of God requires us
now to trust him and obey;
stands Himself as Lord and Saviour,
asking our response today.
