1 Creator of the stars of light,
our Lord of mercy and of might,
the Christ, redeemer of us all:
O hear your people when they call.

2 Through you, the saviour crucified,
the guilty age of death has died;
you took our frail humanity
and gave the world its remedy:

3 And in the evening of our day
you rose to drive the shades away;
from Mary's honoured virgin womb
you came, to take your people home.

4 The sun returning to the west,
the moon in pallid splendour dressed,
the glittering stars that pierce the skies,
obedient, keep their boundaries.

5 The unseen worlds, below, above,
at your supreme direction move;
soon every creature of your hand
shall bow to your divine command.

6 We plead with you, our judge and Lord,
to come according to your word;
and in the hour of destiny
to save us from our enemy.

7 Now to the Father, with the Son
and Holy Spirit, Three-in-One;
to God whom heaven and earth adore
be praise and glory evermore! Amen.
