Down from the height of his glory he came
1 Down from the height of his glory he came,
willingly leaving his rightful domain:
Jesus was born in the image of man;
love was his motive and mercy his aim.
2 All through those days his resolve was the same
Jesus the servant, the sharer of pain:
perfect obedience, the path of disdain,
down to the death of derision and shame.
3 Now God has granted him honour and fame,
taken him up to the highest to reign:
'Jesus is Lord!' every voice shall maintain,
all of creation shall bow to his name.
