From the water comes the child
1 From the water comes the child,
born in hope but bound for strife;
God can train the strong, the wild,
leaving death and bringing life.
2 In the flame the Lord appears,
yet the bush is not consumed;
God is calling, Moses hears;
slaves are loved and tyrants doomed.
3 When the water turns to blood,
signs of judgement have begun;
when the lamb's blood marks the wood,
safely sleeps the first - born son.
4 When the flame makes deserts bright
God is here to guard and guide;
cloud by day and fire by night,
see our covenant-God provide!
5 Through the water we have come;
God has made his people new!
Filled with songs of hope and home,
tell the world what God can do!
