1 If God has chosen a nation
in his purposes of love,
and the only ones who are native sons
are those born from above;
2 If God has chosen a priesthood
in the service of the King,
and if we believe we may all receive
the same commissioning;
3 If God has chosen a people,
to belong to him by grace,
and if faith alone makes us all his own
among his holy race;
4 Then we can be God's possession;
in the priesthood we may share;
being called from night to his Son's clear light
God's glories we'll declare.
