Immense, immeasurable space (Science And Christian Faith)
1 Immense, immeasurable space
drives thought of God away;
yet still we meet, with bread and wine,
to celebrate and pray.
2 Our thoughts divide as we explore
how everything began:
the riddle of the universe,
the mind behind the plan;
3 the marvel of the miniature,
the splendour of the great:
these joys no evil rampant now
can finally frustrate.
4 Great God, sustainer of the worlds,
in whom we live and move!
You came in Christ your Son our Lord
to demonstrate your love.
5 This is our faith! and this our aim,
to view as partners here
our science and our Christian faith,
unblinkered, free of fear.
6 Praise, then, to God far greater than
our minds can comprehend:
God of immeasurable space
who stoops to call us friend.
