1 In the streets of every city,
bringing hope and healing strife,
living out the Saviour's pity,
caring for each precious life:
   where it matters, there you'll find us
   in the service of our Lord.

2 Through the world, in every nation,
serving Christ with lives made whole;
in his name we speak salvation
grace for every seeking soul:
   where it matters, there you'll find us
   thrilling those who have not heard.

3 In our daily time of praying,
thanking God for sins forgiven,
hearing what his voice is saying,
tasting now the joys of heaven:
   where it matters there you'll find us,
   silent, waiting on his word.

4 At his table, there you'll find us
pouring wine and sharing bread;
'Christ has died' these gifts remind us,
'Christ is risen from the dead':
   where it matters, there you'll find us,
   hearts renewed and lives restored.

5 God of city, state and nation,
Lord ascended, coming King:
with resounding exultation
of your faithfulness we sing:
   when it matters, then you'll find us
   and for ever be adored.

When sung to the music of Christopher Rolinson, the last two lines of each verse are omitted, and the following chorus is sung after vv.2 ,4 & 5:

   where it matters, there you'll find us,
   where it matters, there you'll find us
   serving Jesus;
   where it matters, there you'll find us,
   in the service of our Lord.
