1 Into our darkness once you came,
Jesus, our never-fading light;
now as we come to bless your name
judge us and save us, Lord, tonight.
2 One further day of grace has gone,
joys to remember, sins to mourn,
gifts overflowing, work undone
for which the time will not return.
3 No age, no shadow now turns back;
one span of life is ours to live:
have mercy, Lord, for your name's sake
help us redeem each hour you give.
4 Evening and morning you have joined
as in the first of measured days;
so let each dawn and sunset find
your people greeting you with praise.
5 Soon we shall see you as you are,
Jesus whom earth and angels bless,
our midnight Hope, our morning Star,
our glorious Sun of righteousness.
