1 Jerusalem, my happy home,
name ever dear to me!
when shall my sorrows have an end,
your joys when shall I see?

2 When shall I leave this dying world
and to that city rise;
when shall those mighty walls and gates
delight my wondering eyes?

3 That glorious hope, Jerusalem!
in faith I make my prayer:
O God, that all my grief might end,
O God, that I were there!

4 Apostles, martyrs, prophets, saints
around my saviour stand,
and all I love in Christ below
await his clear command.

5 Jerusalem, my happy home,
when shall that glory be
when all my labours have an end
and all your joys I see?

6 Lord Jesus Christ, prepare me now
for that dear home above;
to see, and know, and worship you
in your eternal love.
