Let us celebrate the story of a nation
Let us celebrate the story of a nation,
of the patriarchs who heard the call of God.
They refused the pleasures of their generation;
to the future Promised Land in faith they trod.
And like them we're living in the world as strangers,
where the trials and the wrestling leave a scar;
let us follow them through pilgrimage and dangers,
as by faith we see the City from afar.
Through the sea and cloud, sustained by desert fountain,
marched God's people, though by evil force enticed.
They were journeying towards the sacred mountain,
and the Rock that surely followed them was Christ.
