The Word - preparation and response
1 O Word from whom creation springs,
on whom all being rests,
sustainer of the galaxies
and every fleeting breath,
awaken us to hear your voice
of wisdom and of truth,
and stir our souls to deeper joy
in knowing more of you.
2 Reveal the idols we have made;
Lord, silence all their lies.
Restore us where we’ve gone astray
and be our one desire.
We turn to you with open hearts,
where else have we to go?
The words of everlasting life
are found in you, alone.
Speak to us, Jesus;
We wait upon your word. (repeat)
3 Speak comfort in our suffering,
illuminate our night,
for though the shadows linger still
your word will be our light.
Lord, give us courage every hour
to walk your way of love,
as we declare your living hope
until the day you come.
