The star of heaven foretells

1 The star of heaven foretells the joy that we in heaven shall know;
to see you, Lord God, face to face and walk where angels go!
And in that land of holy light
no guilt of sin, no dread of night,
O Lord of earth and heaven!

2 So bright the star! We see it shine your heavenly light on earth:
how pure the light of God come down in joy of human birth!
And brighter than the morning sun
is Jesus Christ, your holy One,
O Lord of earth and heaven!
