1 To God the LORD I cry aloud,
From him I seek relief;
With anguished heart, before him bowed,
I pour out all my grief.
2 Although I feel my spirit faint
And fear my mind shall break,
My God who cares for every saint
Knows well the path I take.
3 Along the way that lies ahead
They set a snare for me;
I look for help, but help has fled
And no escape I see.
4 O LORD, for you alone I long;
Now save me, hear my prayer!
My enemies, so fierce, so strong,
Have brought me to despair.
5 From my dark prison set me free,
That I may praise your name;
The righteous then shall join with me
Your goodness to proclaim.
