1 We have heard, O Lord our God,
the story of your grace:
and how you gave to us this land,
defending us with your right hand
and showing us your face.

2 You are great, O Lord our God,
we trusted in your name;
we did not triumph by the sword,
but through the victory of your word
you put our foes to shame.

3 Yet today, O Lord our God,
the weak who once were strong
cry out to you, 'O come, arise,
reveal your light to darkened eyes,
and turn our sighs to song!'
