1 We lift our hearts up to the Lord
who stoops to hear us praying;
and as we wait upon his word,
we find in Jesus our reward
all other joys outweighing.

2 As every passing day we move
upon the world's procession,
however dark the way may prove,
we'll seek the light of Jesus' love,
his peace as our possession.

3 Through pain and laughter, smiles and tears
from youth's high aspiration,
to wisdom after many years,
he speaks of hope to listening ears:
'Rejoice in my salvation!'

4 When, overcast, the skies bode ill,
the trees suspend their motion,
the last birds' cries are strangely shrill,
we'll lift our hearts to Jesus still
in worship and devotion.
