When the LORD restored his people
1 When the LORD restored his people
it seemed just like a dream;
our mouths were filled with laughter
and gladness reigned supreme.
They said among the nations,
'The LORD has done great things';
for all that he has done for us
a thankful people sings.
2 LORD, we pray, restore our fortunes
like streams that once were dry;
then those who sow in sorrow
will reap with shouts of joy:
and those who go out weeping,
with good seed to be sown,
will come back with a harvest
singing praise to God alone.
3 Glory, glory to the Father,
and praises to the Son,
all honour to the Spirit,
our God, the Three-in-One!
For Jesus is the Sower,
the seed, his precious word;
and God will bless, wherever
his Good News is truly heard.
