When my bitter foes surround

1 When my bitter foes surround,
when their wicked deeds confound,
when deceit and lies abound,
I will hope in God.

2 When deep sorrows overpower,
when lies hurt and doubt devour,
when I face my darkest hour,
I will trust in God.

3 Then shall fervent prayers avail,
then shall light and truth prevail,
then God's mercy will not fail:
I will praise my God.
