When rulers judge in righteousness

1 When rulers judge in righteousness
and lead with godly fear,
their land and nation God will bless
and bring salvation near.

2 For like the light of morning sun
across a cloudless sky,
so is the king, the chosen one,
who loves the Lord Most High.

3 Or as the brightness after rain
when grass has newly grown,
so is a people free again
with justice on the throne.

4 So let the enemies of peace
be thwarted or removed,
corruption and oppression cease,
and faith and truth be loved.

5 O Lord, put right in every part
this land we know as home;
make known your rule in every heart,
in us, your true Shalom.
