AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (1)

Before an appropriate affirmation, hymn or song.
From 1 John 5

Who can defeat the world?
Only the one who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God.

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (2)
From Psalm 126

We declare our faith in God:

Who brought us out from slavery?
The Lord! Thank you, Jesus.

Who filled our hearts with joy?
The Lord! Thank you, eternal Spirit.

Who has done great things for us?
The Lord! Thank you, Father.

Who gives us joy instead of tears; who gives us songs instead of weeping; who blesses us with all good things?
The Lord our God:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (3)
From Psalm 145

We believe in God,
who is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.

We believe in God,
whose kingdom is everlasting,
whose dominion endures for ever.

We believe in God,
who is faithful to all his promises,
and loving towards all he has made.

We believe in God,
who opens his hand
and satisfies the needs
of all things living. Amen.

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (4)
From Psalm 145 (variant)

We believe in God the Father,
who is faithful to all his promises,
and loving towards all he has made.

We believe in God the Son,
whose kingdom is everlasting,
whose dominion endures for ever.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit,
who satisfies the needs of all things living.

We believe in God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
gracious, compassionate,
and rich in love. Amen.

AFFIRMING OUR FAITH (5)
From Isaiah 43

We believe in the Lord God,
the Holy One,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
we are his witnesses and his servants.
He alone is the Lord,
apart from him there is no saviour;
he has revealed and saved
and proclaimed;
he is our creator, our redeemer
and our king;
it is he who blots out our transgressions
and remembers our sins no more. Amen.
