GIVING GOD THE GLORY ( 1 - 5)
GIVING GOD THE GLORY (1)
From Nehemiah 9
Blessed be your glorious name, O Lord our God, may it be exalted above all human worship and praise: you alone are the Lord - you made the skies and the universe beyond, you made the earth and all that is upon it, the sea and all that is in it; you give life to everything:
you are the Lord our God;
with the hosts of heaven we worship you. Amen.
GIVING GOD THE GLORY (2)
From Psalm 29
O Lord, holy One, with all the hosts of heaven we praise your glory and power; we bow down to worship you in the splendour of your holiness. We hear your voice in the thunder, in all its power and majesty; we perceive your strength in the mighty forests and upon the jagged mountains. We sense your presence in the lightning flash and in the rumbling earthquake; you rule over the deep sea as king for ever, you give strength to your people and bless them with peace. And in your house everyone shouts aloud:
'Glory and praise to God!' Amen.
GIVING GOD THE GLORY (3)
From Psalm 29 (variant)
O Lord, holy One, with all the hosts of heaven:
we give your glory and praise.
We bow down to worship you in the splendour of your holiness:
we give your glory and praise.
We hear your voice in the thunder, in all its power and majesty; we perceive your strength in the mighty forests and upon the jagged mountains. O Lord, holy One, with all the hosts of heaven:
we give your glory and praise.
We sense your presence in the lightning flash and in the rumbling earthquake; you rule over the deep sea as king for ever: we bow down to worship you in the splendour of your holiness:
we give your glory and praise.
You give strength to your people and bless them with peace; and in your house everyone shouts aloud:
'Glory and praise to God!' Amen.
GIVING GOD THE GLORY (4)
From Psalm 63
Lord God, our God: we have seen you in the sanctuary:
we have looked on your power
and your glory.
Because your love is better than life our lips will glorify you:
we will praise you as long as we live.
In your name we will lift up our hearts:
Glory be to you, O Lord our God. Amen.
GIVING GOD THE GLORY (5)
From Isaiah 23 and 24
Lord God almighty, you bring low all pride and glory and humble those who are renowned in the earth, you stretch out your hand over the sea and make the nations tremble:
To you we raise our voices,
and shout for joy;
we acclaim your majesty,
we give you praise,
we exalt your name.
From the ends of the earth we sing:
'Glory to the righteous One!'
For you will reign among us for ever and ever. Amen.
