1 Star of the morning,
sun in light arrayed:
dawn on our darkness,
come to our aid -
guide where the infant
Jesus is laid;
guide where the infant

2 What shall we give him -
offerings divine?
Gems from the mountain,
gold from the mine?
Shall we present him
tribute so fine;
shall we present him

3 Vainly we offer,
favours to secure,
such costly presents -
but these endure:
faith's adoration,
prayers of the poor;
