Gebrauchsmusik, a German term meaning "utility music", describes music composed for a specific, identifiable purpose. This captures something of the vision behind this writing project. We are looking for new pieces that local churches can use at particular moments in ordinary services - useful pieces that are accessible for congregations and music teams, with words and music that challenge and inspire, and help bring congregations together to worship the God who transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.

We are aiming to assemble and record a new Jubilate collection of hymns, songs and responses for regular Sunday worship services. You are invited to submit up to three unpublished new pieces in total to fit with the categories below (one category only for each piece): 

• Gathering for worship
• Praise and thanksgiving
• Adoration/Encounter
• Confession
• The Word – preparation and response
• The Creed
• The Offering
• Prayer
• Sharing the Peace/Fellowship
• Communion
• Sending out and Blessing
