1 O Christ, you are the pioneer
and perfecter of our faith;
we hear the call to follow you
in the story of your grace.
You set the course that we must run,
you vowed to see us through;
Lord, give us strength to persevere
as we fix our eyes on you.
2 What joy sustained your fierce resolve
to endure the cross of shame,
to suffer for the sake of all
who would bear your holy name.
Redeemed, and bound by cords of love
no power can undo,
we pledge our hearts with fear and awe
as we fix our eyes on you.
3 Surrounded by a shining cloud
of the saints who walked before,
emboldened by their lives of faith,
may we triumph by your power.
Lord, send us out with songs of praise
in everything we do;
with all our soul and all our strength
may we fix our eyes on you.
