1 There's a bright sky over Bethlehem,
where shepherds watch upon the hill:
and the heavens ring
as angels sing
of peace on earth and God's goodwill!
2 There's a saviour come to Bethlehem,
a baby laid upon the hay:
in a stable bare
no comfort where
the Christ is born this holy day.
3 There's a star high over Bethlehem
the wise men start upon the road:
bearing gold and myrrh
and incense rare
they come to find the Son of God.
4 There's a sign for us in Bethlehem,
for we rejoice at Christmastide
to receive our Lord,
God's living Word,
our love, our light, our friend, our guide!
