Richard Bewes

Biography

Born at Nairobi, Kenya, the son of missionaries. Educated at Marlborough School, Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Ridley Hall Theological College, Cambridge.

Clergyman at Beckenham, Kent, Harold Wood, Essex, Northwood, Middlesex, and All Souls' Church, Central London, where he was a frequent compère of Prom Praise events there. 

Sometime Resident of Blackheath, London. Causes named as dear to his heart: Africa and tennis.

Assistant editor and contributing lyricist and composer of 'Youth Praise', committee member and contributing lyricist and composer to 'Psalm Praise', and committee member and contributor to 'Hymns for Today's Church'.

Member of Guild of British Songwriters. Author of 18 books. Host of the Open Home, Open Bible video programmes. He was appointed a Prebendary of St Paul's Cathedral in 1988 and received an OBE in 2005. He died on 10 May 2019.
